BINGOED introduces ninety-year-old Essie Cobb, star senior sleuth of the Happy Haven Assisted Living Facility.  Along with her pals Marjorie, Opal, and Fay, Essie sets out to determine why spry old Bob Weiderley collapsed and fell into a coma after winning a game of Bingo.  Essie believes it's more than just excitement that caused the poor old gentleman to faint.  Will she solve this complex mystery?  You bet!

PAPOOSED is Essie's second adventure.  In this book, one of Happy Haven's kitchen workers asks Essie to care for a newborn baby that belongs to one of his fellow kitchen workers who has mysteriously disappeared.   Essie reluctantly agrees, but enlists the aid of her three pals and the four women not only manage to babysit for the infant but also track down his missing mother.

Valentined

It’s Valentine’s Day and most women would  be thrilled to receive a card from a secret admirer. Not so, ninety-year-old Essie Cobb, one of the star residents of the  Happy Haven Assisted Living Facility.   When Essie finds an over-the-top, flowery, valentine from an unknown  individual in her mailbox, she goes into detective mode.   Who could this person be?  Why would they send her such a card?  Essie is determined to find out.  When Essie’s snooping takes a dangerous  turn, she finds herself thrust into the middle of a police investigation. Will Essie help the police solve this  Valentine’s Day mystery or will she strike out on her own against an unknown foe  who has anything but romance in mind?

GHOSTED

Picture
It’s Halloween and time for the goblins to come out.   But for Essie Cobb, senior sleuth, and her pals at the Happy Haven  Assisted Living Facility, there’s nothing quite so spooky as a good  mystery.  Maybe it’s the strange  new resident who resembles Mark Twain.
Why does he collect a box surreptitiously each day from a stranger behind  the kitchen entrance?  Or maybe   it’s Felix Federico, Happy Haven’s new manager. Where did this Italian heart throb of  all the female residents, develop his charming ways?  And will Essie’s pals be able to convince her to go on a field trip to a  local haunted house despite her aversion to any activity that takes her away  from a nearby restroom?  But most  important––why is Essie seeing things?  Such as large rodents in her shower, faces in her crossword   puzzles,
and the ghost of her dead husband  on her favorite television game show?   Is she being haunted or is age finally catching up to this  ninety-year-old lady?  Essie isn’t  one to just sit around and wait for an answer.  She’s going into detective mode and  find out why she’s being GHOSTED.

FIRECRACKERED

Fireworks are supposed to light up the night sky on the Fourth of July. They’re not supposed to come flying into the front lawn of the Happy Haven Retirement Home and strike one of the residents in his keister. But that’s just what happens to gallant Lester Mills, new resident, and charming gentleman, who has risen to offer his seat to fellow resident and amateur sleuth Essie Cobb, when the rocket’s red glare smashes into both of them.  As the unconscious Lester is hailed a hero for saving Essie and hauled off to the local hospital, Essie is left to wonder how and why the firecracker landed so precisely on both of them. Was it really an accident? Did a rocket from the nearby city fireworks’ display go awry? Or is there something more sinister behind the explosion? Essie is determined to find out––after all, what else is Reardon’s most prolific senior citizen/detective to  do when she’s been FIRECRACKERED?
